Volunteers Needed for Family Fair
Our annual Family Fair for the West Philadelphia community is here once again! This event is one of the biggest and most rewarding that we as an organization put on. But we cannot do it alone. In order to make this year just as successful if not more successful than ever, we are going to need your help! So please take a moment to sign up for a shift of your choice here. Shifts include arts & crafts table, dunk tank help, moonbounce help, playing sports with the children, and more! For more information, contact Habeeb Suara (email@example.com) or Chouaib Hihi (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Supports Grassroots Food Truck!
Troy Harris and Kareem Wallace, who are cooks in Penn’s Hillel dining hall (the only kosher/halal dining hall on campus), are trying to start their own food truck business on campus. Their food truck, “Grassroots,” will do much more than just serve breakfast and lunch; Troy and Kareem want to open their own business in order to show children in their neighborhoods who are at risk for finding illegal alternatives to legal employment that their options are not limited to degrading, low-wage employment on the one hand, or illegal work on the other. “We’ll show kids that there’s somebody to look up to who came from the neighborhood and made it, not by going fast..but by working hard.” Please find more information about the food truck by reading the description on the campaign website. In order for them to be able to purchase the food cart they must fulfill their fundrasising goal (see link above), so any donations are appreciated. Contact email@example.com with questions.
Fridays|1:15|Emily Sachs Room Jummah this week will be held in Emily Sachs Room in Irvine Auditorium. Please arrive promptly, so as not to miss prayer. For those who can’t make this, insh’Allah there will be an alternate Jummah in the RAC starting at 12:15pm.

Bring Fawakih to Philadelphia
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu,
Fawakih, a rapidly-growing institute that teaches Quranic Arabic in 7 chapters across the US, is now exploring whether to start offering courses in the Philadelphia area!
The primary objective of Fawakih’s year-round part-time program is to enable students to learn the language of the Quran without interrupting their work and education or being limited to online or only summer residential options. Classes would be offered with 3 instructional hours a week over the course of 8 months. Students engage Quranic vocabulary (mufradat al Quran), understand various sentence components (nahw), and dissect words and understand patterns (awzan) to gain a deeper understanding of the root meanings (sarf), all in order to gain access to the Quran, Prophetic teachings, and the works of great scholars.
This is an incredible opportunity to take advantage of the excellent curriculum, teachers and resources that Fawakih provides, right here in the Philadelphia area, and to become part of a growing student body of Fawakih students (currently over 100) in the US.
Fawakih has launched a poll to gauge the level of interest in studying Quranic Arabic in the Philadelphia area and to determine where potential students are located (to identify where best to launch Fawakih’s classes).
If you are interested, please click here to fill out the poll. Please also share this email with your friends, family and communities and encourage them to do the same.
