Opening of the new Religious Life Center
We’ve said goodbye to our first religious space, the Religious Activities Commons (fondly known as the “RAC”). Now, it’s time to open our hearts to a sparkling, brand-new facility: SPARC, the Spiritual and Religious Life Center located on the second floor, east wing of Houston Hall. The space features a lounge room with those cushy sofas from the days of the RAC; a professional but intimate meeting room; and, of course, a moderately stylish prayer room (Room 247) to house regular prayers. (As mentioned in a previous e-mail, Jummah prayers will be taking place in the adjacent Platt Rehearsal Room.) The facility also includes bathrooms with a foot-washing station, as well as free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate to be enjoyed with courtesy. Stop by and stay awhile to chat with your MSA friends (and Chaz!), pray in such a peaceful setting, or just do your homework. Hours of Operation:
Mon-Thurs: 10 am-9 pm
Fri: 10 am-5 pm
Sat: 12 pm-4 pm

Potential for alternate Jummah
We understand that our set Jummah time of 1:15 pm is not convenient for everybody. If this time is not ideal for you, please fill out the following survey to indicate your preferred time and help us keep count of how many people cannot benefit from the current services.
MSA Advisory Board
The Advisory Board is seeking members for the 2014-2015 term, beginning in September. The Advisory Board provides guidance to the Executive Board of the MSA on issues including, but not limited to: campus presence, overall growth and long-term vision, internal conflict resolution, and the interpretation and implementation of the MSA’s Constitution. Board members are expected to attend monthly conference calls, to contribute their energy and ideas, and to work as a member of a team that seeks to ensure that the MSA is supported in its ongoing development and success. Advisory Board members are typically Penn MSA alumni with MSA Executive Board experience, but may also be current or past Penn graduate students, or anyone regardless of experience or alma mater who might be uniquely qualified to contribute. While it is difficult to estimate the anticipated time commitment, board members should be prepared to devote at least 2 hours per month to board-related activities. Board members need not live in the Philadelphia-area. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Ben Herzig ’03 at Ben815 [at] gmail [dot] com. The deadline to communicate your interest is August 30th.
