Class of 2017 | Bloomfield Hills, Michigan | President
Assalamu Alaikum everyone! I’m Adel, and I’m from a serene suburb in Detroit, Michigan. I like eating lots of foreign foods, and especially Indian/Pakistani foods. I’ve been involved in MSA since high school, and got involved with the Penn MSA as soon as I came on campus. I look forward to meeting everyone and making it a welcoming community!
Class of 2016 | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | Vice President
Salaam everyone! My name is Fahmida and I’m a West Philly native (cue Fresh Prince theme song). Although my parents’ house is barely a few blocks away from campus, I still consider MSA to be my family away from my family. My hobbies/interests include traveling, taking power naps, soccer, and interacting with people of different cultures and backgrounds. One of my goals as a board member is to provide MSA members with the opportunity to take an active role in their community by means of service, empowerment, and much more. I am looking forward to another wonderful year on board!
Class of 2016 | Bolivar, Tennessee | Community Relations Chair
Assalaamu Alaikum! My name is Habeeb Suara, and I am the MSA Community Relations Chair! I am a junior of Nigerian descent studying Biological Basis of Behavior. During my down time, I enjoy playing sports, drumming, singing, making corny jokes, meeting new people, taking long naps in the RAC, and spending time with my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters!
Class of 2017 | Nashville, Tennessee | Secretary
Assalamualaikum! My name is Irtiqa and I’m from Nashville TN (and as such, perpetually cold in the northeast fall/winter). I’m also the oldest of four children and quite easy to spot from a distance because I’m often laughing too loudly in public spaces. I love Penn, writing, Philly, and excessively/unnecessarily hashtag-ing things #blessed #alhamdulillah
Class of 2017 | Ashburn, Virginia | Treasurer
Salaam, my name is Uzair Akhtar and I am a junior from right outside of DC, studying mechanical engineering with a minor in economics. I love playing all sports, cracking jokes and puns, and going on midnight adventures. I look forward to a great year for the MSA inshAllah.
Class of 2016 | St. Louis, Missouri | Outreach Chair
Salaam all! My name is Ahmed Yousef, and I am from a small college town near Kansas City, Missouri. But, I’ve lived in several parts of the United States, including Louisiana and Ohio, where I was born. In my free time, I like to play tennis, read, watch movies, and keep up on politics. I should also mention that I love debate–like, a lot. Finally, I am the eldest of four children.
Class of 2018 | NYC, New York | Social Chair
Assalamualaikum! My name is Nayab and I’m from The City that Never Sleeps. However, sometimes, Penn feels like The College that Never Sleeps! InshAllah, I plan to major in Biology, while on the pre-dental track! When I am not buried under my chemistry textbook at Van Pelt, you can find me exploring Philly and/or telling people the importance of flossing. I love Penn, teeth, COFFEE, and snow!
Class of 2017 | Manhattan, Kansas | Islamic Education Co-Chair
Assalamu Alaykum! I was born in Manhattan…Kansas and was raised in the cornfields of the Midwest; although, my parents are of Pakistani descent. I am a part of the class of 2017 and am studying Biochemistry Insha Allah. I love to eat exotic food, play sports, and read in my free time. My favorite part about Penn is the proximity to the West Philly Muslim community and the concrete jungle that is Philadelphia. The great part about the Penn MSA as anyone here can attest to is the welcoming and tight-knit community. I look forward to working with and getting to know everyone in the future.
Class of 2018 | Waycross, Georgia | Islamic Education Co-Chair
Aslamulaikum everyone! My name is Saadia, and I’m from Waycross, Georgia. The North is great, but I’ll always be a Southern Belle at heart. Currently, my major is undecided, but I shall figure it out soon, InshAllah. I love learning languages, analyzing films, taking long walks, visiting museums, exploring cool places (especially in Philadelphia), traveling, reading all kinds of material, eating, and sleeping. Islamic Education is something I’m very passionate about, and I look forward to serving everyone. If at any time I can be of help, don’t hesitate to ask.

Heba H. Arshad
Class of 2018 | Closter, New Jersey | Operations Chair
Salaam guys! My name is Heba, and I’m from a small NJ suburb right outside of NYC. My academic plans are currently undecided (don’t worry if you’re undecided too!), but I’m loving exploring different classes at Penn. I’m a big fan of period dramas, coffee, and spontaneous adventures. I’m looking forward to meeting even more amazing people and cultivating an even stronger Ummah.
